Donald Roy Rodgers, Jr. was born July 8, 1975, to the union of Brenda Cecelia Rodgers and the late Donald Roy Rodgers Sr. in San Diego, California. On June 21, 2014, he was united in marriage to Rayma Nicole Brandt and resided in Norman, Oklahoma. To this union one child was born, Donald Roy Rodgers III. On December 30, 2024, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle was called home to be with God. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Donald Rodgers, Sr.
Don was a graduate of Belle Chasse High School, Class of 1993. He went to the University of Oklahoma where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He received his Master's in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University in 2001.
Don loved and worked for the University of Oklahoma as an admissions specialist and academic counselor for 16 years and subsequently served as the Assistant Director for Graduate Academic Advising for the last 6 years. He loved his students, took pride in their success, and reveled in graduations marking a new chapter for his students. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Rayma Nicole Rodgers; his son, Donald Roy Rodgers III; his mother, Brenda Rodgers; and his 2 sisters, Renata McPhie and Shari Griffin (Keith); and his 5 nieces, Tiffany (David) Quattrocci, Taylor (Anthony) Andal, Gabrielle Bass, Serena Bass, Kylie Griffin and his two great-nieces, Robyn and Ayva Quattrocci, as well as other family members and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Saint Joseph the Worker catholic Church located at 455 Ames Blvd., Marrero LA. 70072. The visitation will begin at 8AM followed by a 10AM Mass. Father Sidney Speaks will officiate and entombment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
