Delmon Marzett Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce that on Monday, September 2, 2024 at 7:58 p.m., the Master called Delmon Antonio Marzett home in Ochsner Medical Center's Main Campus. Delmon answered his name and entered his eternal resting place in heaven.
Delmon, age 51, affectionately known as Dankie /Dank, was born on January 19, 1973 to Brenda Marzett and the late Arnold L. Jones. Delmon accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was baptized at the age of 12 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1807 LaSalle Street in New Orleans, under the leadership of the late Rev. Freddie H. Dunn,
Delmon was educated in the New Orleans Public School System. He attended McDonogh #7 Elementary School, F.W. Gregory Jr. High, and the Louisiana Training Institute in Scotlandville, La. where he received his certification in brick masonry.
Delmon held various jobs. He worked as a deckhand for Longshoremen 3000, as a landscaper for Fletcher Lawn Company, and he detailed cars at Top & Bottom Car Wash under the management of Kirk Brumfield.
Delmon also found solace in studying the Muslim religion. He was biblically inclined.
Delmon enjoyed life to the fullest with no regrets. He was loving, passionate, handsome, well-mannered and always looked for the positiveness in others. His fashion and sense of humor will always be remembered. He had a laugh that just touched your heart. He played park ball for Coach Leon at A.L. Davis Park. He had a passion for sports and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan.
He is survived by his mother Brenda Marzett (Booker T. Washington Sr.); his sons Delmon A. Marzett Jr. and Joshua Barnes of Titusville, Fla. He was the oldest sibling of Kenwon Marzett (Donisha), Keokeoa Burton, Zyran Marzett Sr. (Brittney), Tyreka Jones, Cintrell Johnson (Kristan), Trevell Williams (Wylene), Sean Marzett and Tremaine W. Henry.
Delmon was the loving nephew of Glenda Marzett, Patricia Mills of Titusville, Fla., Janet McDuffy, Brenda Lee, Linda Richard (Al), Tyrone Williams (Antoinette) of Houston, Texas, Cleveland Williams (Sylvia) of Blytheville, Arkansas, Larry Haynes Sr., Walter County Sr. (Audrey), Larry George Jones Jr., and Keith Jones (Moean) of Long Beach, California, and the Larvadain Family.
He was the godbrother of LaToya Clark, Ronique Amedee and Kennell Christian; godson of Roynell Larvadain, Linda Richard and Sharon C. Williams. He was raised up as a sibling with Johnathan Mills Jr., Donovan and Dr. Lathaniel Mills, Danielle B. Ford, Kevin Ellis Sr. and Edmond Shelton Sr. Delmon had several nephews and nieces, but Keo'vion Burton was his favorite.
Bonus aunts and uncles are Claudette Taft, Michelle Baker, Patricia Byrd, Jeffery Parker and Ronald Boykins. Extended families are Booker T. Washington Jr., Derrick Washington, Kwailynn Kelly, Linda Cratchan, Connie Tate. and the Bakers.
He was preceded in death by his father Arnold L. Jones Sr.; brothers Arnold L. Jones Jr and Curtis Lewis; grandparents Daisy and Hamp Marzett Jr., Hilda Jean and Geoge Jones Sr., uncle David Jones, aunts Andrea Jones, Debra Jackson, Kim Johnson, Juliett County and Timolion Clemons; cousins Timothy Shelly, Walter County Jr., Lena County and Christopher Ruth; best friends Roy (Red) Wolfe, Melvin Smith Jr., and O'Neal Ford Sr; godfather Esco Goines, and nephew DeKalun J. Burton.
Delmon's premature departure will not dampen our memories of the incredibly wonderful, kind, well-groomed man that he was. May we all keep him alive in our hearts and treasure his legacy.
Relatives and friends of the family, members of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Sixth Baptist Church, First Israel Baptist Church of Belle Rose, La., Israelite Baptist Church, Pentecost Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; Federal Reserve Bank, Quest Diagnostics, NOPSI Hotel, Bernhard Company, La. DOTD, Top & Bottom Car Wash, Absolute Care, Odyssey House, Gateway Housing, Prince of Wales Social Aid and Pleasure Club, the Project Food Store, Da Spot Bar, Glady's Bar, Walgreen Store #4007 and On the Bac by Lac Lounge are invited to attend the funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Israelite Baptist Church, 2100 Martin Luther King Blvd. in New Orleans, La. The visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Host pastor is Rev. Emmanuel Smith Jr. Officiating pastor is Rev. Marc Napoleon of Nazareth Baptist Church of New Orleans. Entombment follow at Providence Memorial Park in Metairie, La. Traditional jazz procession will begin at the church.
