Deborah Young Obituary

Deborah Kay Stewart Young, devoted wife, beloved mother, caring sister, affectionate aunt, phenomenal friend, virtuous woman, and devout christian, entered into eternal rest on May 11, 2024, at the age of 64, surrounded by her loving family.

Deborah Kay Stewart Young graced this world on February 5,1960, as the beloved Daughter to the late Rev. Richard Stewart, Sr. and Missionary Dorothy Mae James Stewart. Deborah, affectionately known as Debbie Cakes, was the sixth child of thirteen. She was baptized at an early age at Third Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bridge City, Louisiana. She was a graduate of L. W. Higgins Senior High School Class of 1979 and furthered her education at Southern University's New Orleans campus. Deborah retired from Whitney National Bank as a committed bank teller supervisor.

Some of Deborah's many passions included: decorating party events, wedding planning, baby showers, anniversary parties, and last but not least, Debbie's Heavenly Creations, of which she crafted the most beautiful door wreaths and swags, so many of us loved for the holidays. She was the epitome of elegance. Deborah was eager to give you the clothes off her back, the food on her stove, and the prayers in her bible. "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things." Matthew 25:23

She was preceded in death by her loving parents the late Rev. Richard Stewart, Sr. and Missionary Dorothy Mae James Stewart, Brothers Gregory and Albert James, Michael, David, and Anthony Stewart, Sisters Anglenell Stewart Collier, and Karen Ann Stewart Lewis. Father-in-law Charles I. Young Sr., mother-in-law Delphine Marie Duronslet Young, brother-in-law Charles I. Young Jr., and sister-in-law Angie Stewart.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband of 35 years, Anthony Michael Young, daughters: Ashleigh Riché (Yancey) Samuels, and Ariel Monique Young. Siblings: Janet M. Stewart, Richard Stewart Jr., John C. Stewart, Dorothy S. Johnson, Demetrius R. Stewart, Felisha S. Charles, and Vincent Stewart. Sisters in law: Adrian Stewart, Joyce James, Gilda (Leon) Sneed, Pamela (Roosevelt) Carter. Brothers in law: Clyde Lewis, Darrell (Vera) Young, Todd (Tobi) Young. Seven known godchildren: Julian James, Courtney Swan-Whitley, LaToya Cotton, Jessica Carter, Brennan Stewart, Tyren and Tyree Mitchell. Deborah leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, her extended children, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and grandchildren. Devoted friends: Prophetess Sharon Lewis, Sister Vada Franklin, Donna Swan, Vanessa Bell, Ruth Thomas, Diana Davis, and Vanessa Porter. She also leaves behind one grandpuppy, Saint Milo Samuels.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearance."
II Timothy 4:7-8
