Deborah A. Martin

Deborah A. Martin entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 9th, 2021, at the age of 66.  She was born on May 3rd, 1955, in New Orleans, LA to the union of Mary Martin and the late Jessie Martin.  She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA, where she attended Carver Senior High School, and Delgado Community College with a major in Business Administration.  She was well known for her warm heart and affectionate smile. 

She was employed by Saint Mary’s of the Angels, and later became known as the “Candy Lady” of the community.  Deborah was a Saints fan and enjoyed watching the game with her family and friends.  She also loved people and was very proud of her kids.

Deborah leaves to cherish her memories to her two children, Qiana and Jessie Martin, two nieces, Nicole Walker, and Mary Ann Williams. Two nephews, Jerald, and Brian Martin, her uncles, John and Edward Wells, her aunts, Murtis (Bernell) Robinson, Ruth (Lee) Stevenson, Emma Wells, Betty Washington and Marie (June) Tucker.  Eight grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Diamond and Cody Williams, Donneaka, Damon, Jaden, Aiyanna and Jamal Martin.  She is also survived by a host of other family members, other relatives and devoted friends.    

Deborah is preceded in death by her father Jessie Martin, two brothers, Jessie (Alisha), Gerald Martin, three aunts, Viennie Marie Jenkins, Edna M. Wells, Barbara DOE, and one grandchild; Jessie J. Williams. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Saturday, December 18th, 2021, at New Salem Baptist Church located at 1530 Alvar Street, New Orleans, LA 70117.  The visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m.  Pastor Warren Jones officiating, and interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery located at 10400 Old Gentilly, Rd., New Orleans, LA 70128. 

Due to COVID – 19, EVERYONE in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering and practice social distancing.
