Corey Brown Obituary

Corey Nicholas Brown departed this earthly life on December 31, 2021, at the age of 21. Corey was born on January 20, 2000, to the parents of Ronald and Karen Williams. He was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans LA. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Luter Jr.

Corey attended Holy Ghost Catholic School. While attending Holy Ghost Catholic School he participated in Roots of Music, where he learned to play the drums and the trombone. During his time in Roots of Music, Corey had the honor of performing at the Rose Bowl Parade in California.

Corey attended Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, LA where he graduated in 2018. In addition to his musical talent, he was very talented on the football field.  He played wide receiver on the Eagles Football Team.

Throughout the years, Corey received numerous awards for his musical and athletic talents.

After graduation from High School, he pursed a career in Culinary Arts. Corey first started pursuing his culinary career at the age of 17 where he worked at Luke’s Restaurant. He started out as a dishwasher and within two months he was promoted to line cook. He was a remarkable chef who was always eager to learn new dishes, but his specialty was Shrimp and Grits. Corey worked at many restaurants from a Fry cook at Barrows to his last job at Ruth Steak House.

Corey leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving parents Ronald and Karen Williams, one loving sister, who was also his best friend Nicole Brown-Shelton, one brother, Jamal Randolph, one brother-in-law, Ferrell Shelton, one precious niece, Lia Nicole Shelton, Grandmother Janice McClinton, aunt, Kristal Paul, uncle, Donald Williams, two Godmothers, Carla Goudia and Zandra Miles and his Godfather, Derrick Davis and a host of cousins and devoted friends.

Corey was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lovina Johnson, grandfather, Oliver Brown, great grandmother, Marion J. Prevost, great aunt, Helen J. Smith and two uncles, Kevin H. Butler and Irvin Jackson.

Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Franklin Ave. Baptist Church and The City of Love, Employees of People Health/United Health Group, The Office of Public Health/SHHP, Barrow’s Catfish, Luke’s, Boil House Seafood, New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood, Applebee’s, Chili’s and Ruth Chris Steakhouse are invited to attend the Home going Celebration at Franklin Ave Baptist Church located at 8282 I-10 Service Road New Orleans, LA.  70126. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Will Lloyd IV officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.-until service time. Interment will be private.

Due to Covid-19, all attendees must wear a face mask or other proper facial covering and practice social distancing.
