Sis. Cora Lee Bell Jupiter was born on May 17, 1939, to the late Charles and Rosa Bell.
Cora accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Cedrick Dorsey at the Bright Morning Star Baptist Church of Napoleonville, LA. She later joined the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wilson Smith, Sr. Cora served faithfully as a Deaconess at the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Damian J. Brown.
Sis. Cora retired from the Landmark Hotel after 25 years of service. Cora was united into holy matrimony to Wallace Jupiter. To this union one son was born, Gregory Jupiter. She later partnered with Louis "Bo" Peabody (Carol). To this partnership three kids were born: Cora Jupiter, Louis Jupiter and Terry Lee Peabody.
On Saturday, January 18, 2025, Sis. Cora was called to her Heavenly home without fear but with peace and love for God in her heart. She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons; Gregory Jupiter and Terry Peabody of Avondale, LA; and Louis Jupiter of Lewisville, TX. One daughter Cora Jupiter of New Orleans, LA. Three Sisters: Francis McGruder of Avondale, LA.; Gloria Mae Bell and Betty Heims of Thibodaux, LA. Two Brothers: Larry Bell of Napoleonville, LA. and Malcolm Bell of Labadieville, LA. Two brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law: Joseph Jupiter Ill, Willie Heims and Joyce Bell; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; devoted friends: Velma Lee & Walter Whittington, Nathan Williams, Lloyd Bell and Stephanie Kennedy; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sis. Cora was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Rosa Bell, ten sisters:
Lizzie Sherman, Beatrice Wesley, Ida Mae Moses, Jessie Mae Henderson, Equilla Bell, Jenetta Melancon, Carolyn Sam, Louise Naquin, Rose Lee Jupiter and Loretta Sanford; and three brothers: Charles Bell, Jr., David Bell and Roy Bell, Sr.
Relatives and friends of the family, Officers and Members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Second St. John B.C. and neighboring churches are invited to attend the celebration of life service on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church located at 433 Avondale Garden Rd., Avondale, LA 70094. The viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Damian J. Brown officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 9820 Nine Milepoint W, Westwego,
LA 70094.
