Clement LaFrance Obituary

Clement Benjamin LaFrance Jr. age 48, a native of Plaquemines Parish and resident of Diamond, LA, gained his heavenly wings with his family by his side on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Clement Benjamin Lafrance Jr, affectionally known as "DJ Country" was born on November 28,1974, to his loving parents Marlise and the late Clement Benjamin LaFrance Sr.
Clement was a lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish. He attended and graduated from Port Sulphur High School in 1992. Clement was a member of First Class Gentleman, an organization that shared his enjoyment of giving back to the community. Clement wore many hats, his most cherished besides being a husband, father, and grandfather, coaching middle school basketball and recreational ball. He also enjoyed his lawn care jobs and trawling for shrimp. He was most known for his DJ skills, if DJ Country was there you were bound to have a great time. He was also a member of the Diamond Rattlers where he loved to play softball in his younger days.

Clement leaves to cherish his memories to his devoted wife of 19 years Norlisha Martin LaFrance. To The union three children were born, Jasmine LaFrance, Tyler (Lashon) Martin Sr., and Marquise (Tyvion)LaFrance Sr. His delight was his four grandchildren, who in his eyes did no wrong, Jonquel St. Ann Jr., Tyler Martin Jr, Marquise LaFrance Jr, and Taylen Martin. Three brothers Rachad (Lauren) and Jared (Angela) LaFrance and a bonus brother Chad (Lucy) LaFrance. Grandson of Mazie Ancar. His sisters-in-law, Joannie (Eraion Williams), Harriet (Ryan Sylve) and Garnette (Troy Ragas) Martin. His god children Jamal Recasner, Jaheim, Kaitlyn, and Geleah Martin and Rhynae Jordan. He was the uncle of Raven, Alyssa Ethan, Jaxon, India. Monica and Jasiah LaFrance, Jaynea Williamson, Kaitlyn Dante, Jaheim, Jaylon, Diamond, Jayla, Heaven, Miracle and Geleah Martin, Kacee Miller, and Trinity Ragas. The great uncle of Harmoni, Jerzi, Kingston, and Emerson and the late Jyri. Son in law to Joannie and Harris Martin.


Clement is preceded in death by his father Clement LaFrance Sr. His grandparents John and Lear LaFrance Sr., Etienne Ancar Sr., his uncle John LaFrance Sr. and his cousin Anthony LaFrance Jr.

Clement loved his community and enjoyed giving back whether it was through coaching or just flashing that bright beautiful smile. His loss has been felt throughout the community. He will be truly missed by all but will forever hold a place in our hearts.

Relatives and friends of the family, also students of Plaquemines Parish schools, employees of Plaquemines Parish School Board and Zachary are all invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28698 Highway 23 Port Sulphur, LA 70083. The visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., and mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Father Gerald Stapleton officiating and entombment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery.
