Carroll "Guy" Mitchell Sylve, Sr., age 77, departed his earthly home on Wednesday March 18, 2026, surrounded by his family. Guy was born March 1, 1949, in West Pointe à la Hache to the late Morris Sr and America Sylve. He was a lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish.
Throughout his life, Guy worked many different jobs which included Daybrook Fisheries and Leon Duplessis & Sons. His most recent job was at Plaquemines Parish Government where he retired after over 15 years of employment.
He is survived by his three sons, Carroll Jr(Tamika) Sylve, Adonis (Shykeva) Sylve, and Christian Sylve; his grandchildren, Ayana and Cylan Sylve; brothers, Nelson(Shirleen), Adam(Joyce), Michael Sr(Dorris), and Emmett, Sr. Sylve; sister, Janet Sylve; father-in-law, Emery Clinton Brooks Sr; brothers-in-law Emery Sr.(Gloria), Sheadrich Sr.(Lily), Laurice(Ronnile) and Dietrich Brooks; sisters-in-law, Winknoca(Jeffery) Terrance, Sonya(Ricky) Duplessis, Akeia(Joseph) and Triconne Brooks; and one Godchild, Christopher Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cedra Brooks Sylve whom he loved dearly. Carroll and Cedra chose to exit on the same date (March 18) 9 years apart which displays a unique form of "spiritual reunion". Two beautiful souls that were so intertwined in purpose and love that they departed earth in a rhythm only Heaven understands.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Morris, Jr and Clarence, Sr. Sylve; sisters, Mary Jane Duplessis and Josephine Sylve Brooks; brother-in-law, George Brooks Sr; sister-in-law, Cecile Sylve and mother-in-law, Ada Brooks. Guy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, also Plaquemines Parish Government, Alexis Marine, LLC, River Birch Landfill, Alice Harte School(Chartwells), Jefferson Parish School Board Transportation, Compassus Hospice Care, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 8968 Hwy 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11AM. Visitation will begin at 9AM. Father Kyle Dave officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery.
