Bryan Henry Wise

Bryan Henry Wise, 61, was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Affectionately known as "Buttercup" he was born June 21, 1964, to the late Lilly Mae Wise in New Orleans, La. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Our beloved, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, and co-worker transitioned to his heavenly home to be with the Lord surrounded by family and friends.
He enjoyed watching football and a good hand of spades. He also enjoyed friendly banter while doing the things he loved most. Bryan was a workaholic. He enjoyed family gatherings jokingly being the life of the party. He never left without expressing his love, especially for his loved ones.
Our grandmother laid the foundation by teaching us to pray and embrace faith early on. He attended Francis T Nicholls High. He was an employee at Dominos Sugar Refinery. He also worked at Foods for Families, New Orleans Country Club and R&L Carriers.
Bryan was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly May Wise; his grandmother, Annie Lee Wise; his aunt, Mattie Smith; and his cousins, Robert Smith Jr., Reginald Smith, Royce Wise, and Dawn Wise-Martin. He is survived by his companion Sheila Lafrance, brothers Darrel and Carrol Wise, sisters Dorene Carter, Raquel Wright, and Chandra Wise, nieces Jaylynn and Keichandra Wise, Kia Conrad, and Jamie Wright, granddaughter Alnesha Greenberry, stepfather Carrol Hills, and many relatives, friends, and colleagues. Bryan will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Gentilly Baptist Church located at 5141 Franklin Ave., New Orleans LA. 70122. The visitation will begin at 10AM followed by an 11AM service. Rev. Derick Joshua will officiate. Interment will be private. A repass will follow the service in the church's fellowship hall.
