Blair Aurelius Taylor gained his wings on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at his home in Syracuse, New York. He was born on November 19, 1964, in Wilmington, Delaware to his loving parents Aurelius and Carolyn Taylor. As the second of five children, Blair was preceded in death by his parents Aurelius Levy Taylor and Carolyn Alexander Taylor, and his brother Ryant Michael Taylor.
Blair was baptized at an early age at Providence Baptist Church in Algiers, Louisiana and was a faithful servant of the Lord who embraced Christian principles throughout his life. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1982 and received a full athletic football scholarship to Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation management. After completing his studies, Blair relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he worked as a youth director before moving to Syracuse, New York.
A man of impeccable character, Blair had a contagious personality that could light up any room. He was known for his humor, wit, and ability to tell stories that always left a lasting impression. He offered great advice to his loved ones and had a unique nickname for everyone. Blair was a loyal Steelers fan since the age of ten and loved teasing Saints fans.
As a loving father of four beautiful children, Blair's family was the center of his life. His children came first, and he loved them with all his heart. He cherished spending every weekend with his children until the Lord called him home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Sidney and Dorothy Alexander, Ethelda Simon Devore and Robert Taylor; uncles Robert Taylor, Sidney Alexander, Jr.; aunts Joan A. Giles (Elton"Dean"), Ardene Billy and bother-in-law Francis "Muggie" Turner.
Blair leaves to cherish his memories his children Blair Ryant Taylor, Alexandra Marie Taylor, Maylany Andrea Taylor, and Javon Aurelius Taylor. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Ryant and Roman Taylor. His brother Shawn Levy Taylor (Arleen); sisters Donzell Taylor Bellow (Paul), Natasha Taylor Washington (Christian Sr.); nieces, Ashton Cooper (Harleaux), Dillyn Bellow, Bailee Bellow, nephews, Myles Taylor, Dakoda Brumfield, Christian Washington, Jr.; great niece Londyn Cooper; great nephews Jaxon and Kason Cooper; aunts, Ruby Turner, Denise Blutcher (Ronald); cousins, Tyson Giles (Sharon), Jerome Turner (Geiselle), Troy Giles, Clinton Giles, Ryan Johnson (Shamekia), Garvin Stovell, Zina Banks, Ina Berteaux (Bryan Jr.), Shonda Riley (Edward), Sharmaine Henry (Keith), Rayvn Alexander (Michael); devoted friend Steve "Dean" Washington and a host of relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at St. Paul Baptist Church located at 1509 Monroe Street Gretna, LA 70053. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Orin Grant officiating and interment will follow at McDonoghville Cemetery in Gretna, La.
