Betty Jean Lewis

Betty Jean Jones Lewis departed this life peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at her home in Harvey, LA, surrounded by her loving family. She was 69 years old and a native of New Orleans, LA., and a longtime resident of Harvey, LA.
Daughter of the late Lionel Edward Jones Sr, and Clara Mae Garrison Jones. Wife of the late Samuel Russell Lewis Sr. Beloved mother of Samantha Anderson (Kevin), Rachel Waters (Ephesian), Samuel R. Lewis Jr. (Rhonda), Rodrick R. Lewis (Zana), Derrick A. Lewis Sr (Miguel), Damon K. Lewis (Tyranisha), Shanta L. Davis (Jevon). Sister of Carlton Jones, Lionel Jones Jr (Ennis), Derrick M. Jones Sr., Quincey Jones (Tasha), Edwina Jones, Nadrine Hayden (Pastor Woodrow), Linda Coleman, the late Corlis Fazande, Kevin Jones Sr., and Joseph Jones Sr. Niece of Barbara Jones, Louise Perkins (Elder Sterling Perkins), Patricia Garrison, Marva Gibson, and Emmitt Jones. Godmother of Lance Hubbard and Denai Jones, devoted friend to Ramona Williams, Marylene Mitchell, Beverly Filmore, and Anna Perkins. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Evening Star Baptist Church located at 817 Grefer Street, Harvey, LA 70058. The visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the service will follow at 10 a.m. Pastor Keith Paul Stewman officiating and interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell Alabama at a later date.
