Bessie Mae Lewis LeBlanc made her heavenly transition to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 96. She was proceeded in death by her mother (Courtney Green Lewis) her father (John Lewis), Cora Williams (sister), 2 brothers (Murl Lewis and Bill Lewis), 1 daughter Deborah "Bo Bo" LeBlanc and 4 grandchildren John, Ronald, Reginald, Brittany, 2 great grandchildren, Thaddeus and LaRita, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was raised in Marrero, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Bessie was a graduate of West Jefferson High School. She was affectionately known to family and friends as "Mamie" and was a formerly employed by the Jefferson Parish School Board as a cafeteria manager. Following her retirement, she volunteered with Catholic Charities as a foster grandparent at Paul Habans School in Algiers. She was a very kind and genuinely loving person, who even through her own trials and tribulations, always kept a positive attitude. Bessie was married to the late Cornelius Jack LeBlanc Jr., and through that union 9 children were born. She is survived by 7 daughters, Jacquelyn LeBlanc, Lorraine Washington (Morris Oneil, deceased), Rita LeBlanc, Lucinda Lucy Lee (Joseph Lee, deceased), Paulette Thomas, Sharon Lombard (Ralph, deceased) and Pastor Jeanne M LeBlanc, a son Cornelius Jack LeBlanc III (Norma), 20 grandchildren Joseph Lee (Nippy), James LeBlanc (Goldman), Laura Paige, Jacquelyn Lombard, Paula Brooks, Vincent LeBlanc, Lynette Stewart, Gerard Lee, Dionne Washington, Sharon Jordan (Squita), Lorraine LeBlanc (Nune), Bryan Dumas, Sharon LeBlanc, Corlin LeBlanc, Courtney LeBlanc, Corey LeBlanc, Johnell LeBlanc, Robert Martin, Tasha Thomas, Cortez LeBlanc, Amore Martin, her long-time friend Dr. Gloria Pavageau, 33 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and other a host relatives.
Relatives and friends of the family, officers, and members of Christian Community Outreach Church, where Mrs. Bessie was the church Mother, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the celebration of Mrs. Bessie's life at New Testament Baptist Bible Center located at 1500 Paliet Street in Harvey Louisiana. The visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the service will begin at 10 a.m.
