Bernice Davis Goffner

Bernice Davis Goffner departed this life peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus. Mrs. Goffner was 76 years old and a native of Utica, Mississippi and a longtime resident of Harvey, Louisiana. She was also a dedicated employee of Home Depot and Walmart stores both in Marrero.
She is the beloved daughter of Pastor James Houston Jr. and the late Georgia Mae Davis Houston. Devoted wife of the late James Henry Goffner Sr. Loving mother of James Henry Goffner Jr., Lionel Goffner and Samantha Goffner Green. Grandmother of Shamika Goffner, Huey S. Cole Sr., Kottie White Goffner, Jamie White Goffner, Jordan White Goffner, Randell Green, Brandon Goffner, Iran Honore, Ashley Williams, Chasity Robney, and the late Lionel Williams. Great grandmother of Huey S. Cole Jr., Curtis S. Cole, Curnell D. Cole, Chanell C. Cole, Da'nali L. Green, Jilian R. Green, Noah Franklin, Stevion M. Cater, Haley M. Assad, Karter Lee, Lolita M. Assad, and Demi Reign Green. Sister of Carrie Mae Smith (late Perry), Jannie Mae Houston, Linda Joyce Houston, Willie Jean Goffner (Wilson), Ruby Lee McClure (Lee), Mary Ann Briden (late Frank), Ernest Lee Houston (Emma), and Willie James Houston (late Carol). Sister in law of Willie Goffner III (Pauline), Gloria Hine (late Clemmie), Barbara Ann Jenkins (late Archie), Flora Barber (Curtis Sr.), Debra Harris, Gayle Goffner, Marrilyn Birden (Darrell), Curtis Goffner, and the late Ernest Goffner, Ruby Scott (Roosevelt), Louise Easter Jones Goffner and Willie "Manchild" Goffner II. Godmother of Danisha Smith and Ayden Houston. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.
 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Israel Baptist Church 1612 Esther St., Harvey LA. The visitation will begin at 9AM followed by an 11AM service. Rev. Darrell McKinnies is the host pastor, and Bishop Joseph Carter Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale.
