Barbara Ann Encalade Riley

Barbara Ann Encalade Riley departed this life at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on Wednesday, October 02, 2024, at the age of 68. She was a native and lifelong resident of Davant, LA. Daughter of the late Audrey Mae Williams and Charles Nicholas Encalade. Devoted wife of Jackie Riley Sr. for 44 years. Loving mother of Jackie Riley Jr. (Tronell) and Ye'Lir P. Riley. Loving grandmother of Trashaun Polius, Mikel Phillips and Carter Reddick. Loving step grandmother of Gregory, Joequell, and Joequan Anderson. Great-grandmother of Mazi Phillips. Step Great-grandmother of Bhlu Cosse', Blaiz Barthelemy, Laik Edwards, Brez, Ghea and Gerni Anderson. Sister of Charles Michael Miller, Donna Marie, Rachel Anastasia and the late Irene Mathilda Encalade. Granddaughter of the late Alice "Pep" Isidore and Joseph "Peppe Joe' Encalade and the late Margaret Parker and Allen Clifton Williams Sr. Sister-in-law of Sharon Riley, Stephanie Brown, Noel Riley and the late Emelda Miller and Edwin Riley Jr. Daughter in law of the late Gloria G. and Edwin H. Riley Sr. Survived by three aunts Theresa E. Labot, Doris Mackey, and Agnes Encalade. She is preceded in death by a host of aunts and uncles.
Barbara was a graduate of Phoenix High School class of 1974. She became a Paraprofessional at Phoenix High School for 30 plus years. Due to relocation from Hurricane Katrina, she continued her employment as a Paraprofessional at Patterson High School of St. Mary Parish. Barbara was a prolific seamstress, artist, and master craftsman of unlimited trades. Many of her artistries can be seen throughout the walls and floors of the newly constructed Phoenix High School. She also served as the exclusive seamstress for the Mardi Gras Krewe of Amoni of Patterson, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Thomas Catholic Church located at 17605 Hwy. 15 Pointe ala Hache, LA 70082. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., and the memorial service will begin at 11. Father Sampson Abduli will officiate.
