Audrey Perkins Obituary

Audrey Mae Perkins was born October 1, 1947 in New Orleans Louisiana to the late Eddie and Mary Perkins-Peters. God called her to eternal bliss on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2:26 p.m. She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was baptized at Sunrise Rise Baptist Church by the late Pastor Harrison Castle followed by Rev. James Chetham and now under the leadership of Pastor Cornell Sisler. She was an active member of the church singing in the choir and singing with The Varrette Singers (gospel group). For many years she fellowshipped and served her church family and friends, cooking and preparing her food with love whenever she was called upon.

As a girl Audrey had a love for cooking so much, she chose it as her career. She worked over forty years in local restaurants as a cook throughout the Greater New Orleans Metro area. She was such an amazing chef her baby girl never stopped calling ask her Momma to prepare her favorite meals. She also was called upon by her granddaughters to learn her recipes which only gave verbal instructions and no exact measurements. She would always say, “As long as you cook with love the flavor will be spot on every time!”

She was a loving and totally devoted mother of two beautiful daughters: Vanessa Marie and Monica Lynn Perkins. She absolutely adored being Grandmother to six grandchildren: Latoya (Patrick) Dorsey, Keven Perkins Sr, Rishawn Perkins, Torrey (Kaela) Adams Jr, Jermika and Tatyana Perkins. She cherished each and every one of her eleven great grandchildren: Taja’Le and Liyah Wilson, Benjamin Jr. and Robyn Frank, Kahlea and Torrey Adams III, Akiley Sanders, Paytin, Prin. Pea Dorsey, Erin Perkins, and Keven Perkins Jr. Having only one amazing great - great granddaughter: Layla Marie White. She honored her duty as God mother to: Sherri Buckley, Mark Anthony Perkins, Kevon Marrero.

She leaves three siblings behind who she dearly loved: Evalina London, Joseph Peters and Eddie Peters. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.

Audrey was preceded in death by her father Eddie Peters, her mother Mary Perkins-Peters, her three sisters: Carolyn Perkins, Janie Henry, and Barbara Williams, her five brothers: Wilfred Banks, Willam Wardell Peters, Sterling Mayer, Wilbert Peters and Horace Peters, one niece: Mary Ann Deal, three nephews: Ryan I & Ryan II Williams, and Aaron Peters.
