Armond Dinet Obituary

Armond John Dinet, Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He departed this world gently and without pain-just as he lived-with grace, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Armond leaves behind his beloved wife, Virginia Sylve Dinet, his cherished "Me Honey," of 64 beautiful years. Their love was a shining example of faith, commitment, and enduring partnership. Together, they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and deep family values.

He was a devoted father to six children: Tammy Monley (Michael), Cindy Ancar (Dwayne Sr.), Wendy Walker (David), Abbey Taylor (James), Armond Dinet III (Candice), and Nicholas Dinet Sr. (Hillary). Armond guided his children with wisdom, compassion, and quiet strength. He was a constant presence in their lives, leading by example and instilling the values of faith, hard work, integrity, and unconditional love. His grandchildren: Bonnie Sue, Glyn Jr., Dwayne Jr., Dylan, Shawnna, Tyrone Jr., Armond IV, Isaiah, Neijhel, Amiah, Nicholas Jr., Raegan, Dalton, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his smile shined brightest in their presence.
He is also survived by his sister, Virginia, and brothers Anthony, Terry, and Craig, along with his much-loved brother-in-law, Richard Sylve, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Armond Dinet Sr.; his mother, Annie Casbon Alexis; his sister, Bessie; and his brother, Rufin. Beloved uncles and friends who also preceded him in death include Herman Casbon, Vernon St. Ann (Uncle Kat), Joseph Alexis, Eddie Phillips, Emile Martin, and Bernard Martin.
In his early years, Armond lived in harmony with the land and waters of Louisiana, working as a fisherman, hunter, and trapper-more than just work, it was part of who he was. He later became a skilled butcher, first at Petrovich Market, and then at Martin's Groceries, both of which he loved. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he eventually purchased Martin's and transformed it into the beloved Happy Jack Supermarket, a pillar of the Happy Jack community for many years.
As times changed, he followed his heart back to the water, converting the store into Armond's Bait Shop, where he reconnected with his lifelong passion. He also served his community with pride through his work with the Plaquemines Parish Government for 10 years.
Armond was a proud and generous supporter of St. Jude School and Church, especially known for his presence at the semi-annual Turkey Shoot, where he lovingly ran his famous fried fish booth. His service was always given with joy and deep devotion to the school he dearly loved.

The Dinet family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the many compassionate hands that cared for their Dad during his final days. Special thanks to Dr. Shibu Varughese (oncologist), Dr. Cody Hill (pulmonologist), Dr. David Hutchinson (cardiologist), West Jefferson Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospice (Tasha), Robinson Family Funeral Home, Plaquemines Parish Police Department, Plaquemines Parish Fire Department, Plaquemines Parish EMS, and the staff of Walmart Pharmacy. A profound thank you to caregivers Lillian Carmon, Lenetta Williams, and Carol Sylve, whose gentle presence and loving care brought peace and comfort to our father and family.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing he is now at peace. His spirit lives on in each of us-and in every cherished memory we hold close.
