Antonia “Eltonia” Smith was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 82. She was a native and resident of Pointe a la hache, Louisiana. Eltonia was born in Pointe A La Hache on March 30, 1939, to the late Charles Smith Sr., and Alena Encalade Smith.
She is the beloved mother of Yon (late Sandra) Smith, and the grandmother of Darchelle, Breiyon, Yoneisha (Bryson), and Yondra (Bryant). The great - grandmother of Brylei Carter. The Step grandmother of Jamia and Jamal Lafrance. The step-great grandmother of Maliah and Jahari Lafrance. She was the sister of Eleanora (Robert) Burrle, Mira Lee Smith, and the late Charles Smith Jr., Herman, Leola, Andrew Smith, Viola Riley and Violet Turner. The Sister-in-law of Robert Burrle, and the late Michael Turner Ellied Riley Sr. Luberta, Pauline, and Bernice Smith. The Godmother of Robin Burrle Sheppard, and the late Chris Riley.
Eltonia was a woman of strong faith and an active parishioner of St Thomas Catholic Church. She partook daily in praying and encouraged her child and grandchildren to do the same. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and took part in rearing her grandchildren, great - grandchildren and some of her great nieces and nephews. She loved to teach and always encouraged education. Eltonia loved to work in her younger days and was a long-time employee at Beshel furniture factory. She also was employed by Fox Oyster Factory.
Eltonia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will always be remembered as being a family oriented, loving and peaceful spirit with a smile that lit up the room.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at St. Thomas Catholic Church located at 17605 LA – 15, Point A La Hache, LA 70082, at 11 a.m. The visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Father Sampson Abduli officiating and entombment will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will also receive guest for a visitation on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 LA - 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
