Anna Maud Riggins Williams was the 4th of 9 children born to the union of Joseph Sr. and Daisey Gougisha Riggins
Anna was reared in the McDonoghville community located in the city of Gretna, LA. She received her primary and secondary education in the Jefferson Parish School System. She was a graduate of the first segregated class of 1969 at West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA. Following high school Anna married and had two sons she absolutely adored the late Walter M. Williams Jr. and Kenton A. Williams. Anna always had a will to work in her youth she was employed by Homecraft U.S. Homes (the developers and builders of Woodmere Subdivision) as a domestic worker, there after she secured employment with the State of Louisiana and worked as a bookkeeper at LSU School of Dentistry for many years. Anna managed to successfully juggle motherhood and work while she pursued her post-secondary education from the Southern University System's Baton Rouge and New Orleans Campuses. She successfully earned two bachelor's degrees, one in accounting and the other in business administration. Upon earning her accounting degree, she secured another position within The State of Louisiana at Belle Chasse State School as an accountant.
Anna's memory will be cherished by her youngest son Kenton A. William (Raynell); six granddaughters Kentonisha Harris, Havannah London, Kailyn Williams, Keyshawn Bulter, Keyana Bulter, Keyjira Bulter; three grandsons, Kenton Williams, Ricardo Jaminson and Rome Butler; six great-grandchildren.
Five Brothers Mitchell and Anthony Riggins, Leroy, Joseph (Paula), Clarence (Darlene) Kelly three Sisters; Carolyn (Joseph) Shelvin, Wilma (Carl) Covington, and Beverly (Anthony) Laborie; one Brother-in-Law Jessie Williams Jr.; one God-Child Cheryl Shelvin-Lewis; a Special cousin Katherine C. Jackson; four Special Friends Peggy Thorton, Denise Leonard, Delphine (Dee) Wren, Jewel Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.
Anna was proceeded in death by her Parents, Joseph Sr. and Daisy Gougisha Riggins; three Brothers Joseph Jr., Louis and Carl Riggins; two Sisters Edna Mae Perry and Geraldine Kelly and her eldest Son Walter Matthew Williams Jr.
Relatives, Friends, Pastors and members of Second Zion Missionary Baptist Church Marrero, LA, Israelite Baptist Church Crowley, LA, Full Life Faith Ministries Marrero, LA, Employees of Marque's Market & Food Distributors are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Fisher Community Church 1737 L B Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA 70114 on Friday, July 5, 2024. The visitation will begin at 9AM followed by a 10AM service. Bishop J. Nelson Brown will officiate and entombment will follow in McDonoghville Cemetery.
