Ann Shirley “Soul” Gibson departed this life on Sunday, March 6, 2021, at her sister’s home in Marrero, La. She was 70 years old and a native of Port Sulphur, La., she was born on July 28, 1950, to the late Albert Patrick Sr., and Laura Mary LaFrance Gibson.
Ann was the 9th of 11 children. She is the sister of Mary Gibson, Lela Sylve (Michael), the late Albert Gibson, Albertine Ragas, Rose Mackey, Nicholas Sr., Joseph Sr., Alvin Sr., Peter and Larry Gibson. She was the sister-in-law of Willie Mae Demolle and Josephine Gibson, the late Edmond Ragas Sr., Frank Mackey, Mary Jane, Lois, and Elaine Gibson.
Ann was a very special queen, she loved everyone and everyone loved her. She enjoyed listening to music, playing bingo, and dancing. She was very outgoing, those who knew her knew that to go around her you better have something to put in her hand because she was looking for something. She befriended everyone she met. She would say, “Hello, my name is Shirley, and then giggle.” Left to cherish her memories are her siblings, Mary Gibson and Lela Sylve (Michael), nieces, nephews, sister in laws, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 15, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located at 28698 LA – 23, Port Sulphur LA 70083, at 11 a.m. The limited visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Father Gerard Stapleton officiating and interment will follow at Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, La.
Due to COVID – 19, EVERYONE in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering and practice social distancing.
