Alonzo Orville Wiley came into this world shining bright like a diamond. He was born on July 31st, 1986, to David Young and the late Helen Wiley. Alonzo left this world to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 5th, 2021, in Harvey, LA. He was 35 years old.
Fashion King, #1 Stunna, generous, dependable, loyal, handsome, and stylish. These are just some of the words to describe our charismatic Alonzo.
We knew him as Zomula and he lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. He kept a smile on his face and uplifted everyone in his presence. He was the first person to call when you needed something and always the life of the party.
He graduated from John Ehret High School. After serving in the United States Navy for 3 years, he worked several different jobs before he entered Barber School. After Barber School he started working as a barber under the helm of a local barber shop in New Orleans. He was soon able to pursue his dream of owning his own business, by opening The Grooming Gallery, with several barbers & beauticians under his leadership. After years of success at his New Orleans barber shop, he recently upgraded to an upscale Gretna location for The Grooming Gallery, which is currently open for business to continue his legacy.
He leaves behind his father David Young, his grandfather Fred Young Jr., three sisters: Allegra W. Burns (Michael Burns), Chelsey Baptist, and Tyrah Young, three brothers: Quentin, Vernal, and Oscar Wiley, three aunts: Doris W Phoenix and Vera W. Joseph (the aforementioned raised him after his mother’s passing), and Minnie Young, and three uncles: Edward Wiley, Paster Fred D., Melvin, and Kenny Young. He’s also survived by his beloved dog, Money, several nieces and nephews that he dearly loved, his honorary siblings Wyleea and Angelo, two beloved best friends Terri and Shad, his favorite cousins Whitney and Shalanda, and his brother from another mother, Tremaine.
He is preceded in death by his mom, his Queen, the beautiful Helen Wiley. His grandmothers Luticia Mickey Wiley and Daisy Young, his aunt Mary W. Rankin, and nephew Alontay Simmons, and a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins that he loved.
We know Alonzo’s soul is resting, but his family and friends will always remember his positive energy. His life will never be forgotten and the memories of him will never dim.
