Al Eugene “Rick” Barthelemy, entered eternal rest on Monday, November, 7, 2022 at West Jefferson Medical center in Marrero LA. Al was born on April 11, 1953 and was a longtime resident of Port Sulphur LA. Son of the late Percy Eugene and Lovenia Williams Barthelemy. Devoted husband of 39 years to Frances Duplessis Barthelemy. Devoted father of John (Ivy) Humpries, Jermie (Whitney) Humpries, Angela (Lavanta) Davis, Alex (Jeffery) Hayes and the late Keelen Barthelemy. Grandfather of Lavanta Jr., Langston, Jeffery Jr., Braxton and Blade. Brother of Jerry (Louise) Barthelemy, Joey (Rolanda) Barthelemy and the late Mary Ann Barthelemy Green, Donald and Ferdinand Barthelemy.
Nephew of Joseph (late Doris) Barthelemy, Simon (Courtney) Barthelemy, Oliver (Tiffany) Barthelemy, Ollie Thomas, Mercedes Gieurin, Louise and Alice Barthelemy. Brother in law of Carol and Donald Duplessis, Elizabeth (Elliot) Barthelemy, and Judy (Waren) Demolle. Devoted friend and cousin of Allen Thomas, and godfather of Sherold Manuel. He was predeceased by his in laws Alicia and Olen Duplessis and Juanita Barthelomew. Al is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Al graduated from Phoenix High School in 1971 and Southern University in 1975. After graduating he became a commercial fisherman and later returned to his alma mater Phoenix High School as a special education teacher for over 25 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 28698 LA-23, Port Sulphur LA. 70083. The visitation will begin at 9A.M. followed by a 10:30A.M. service. Father Gerald Stapleton will officiate.
