Yvonne Marie Jasper Ellis, a longtime childcare advocate and educator, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the age of 66. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, La, and was a graduate of Southern University and a dedicated educator at Benjamin Franklin Elementary Math and Science School.
Beloved daughter of the late Walter Crolle and Rosie Lean Jasper. Stepdaughter of Emery Chaney. Devoted mother of Douglas (Priscilla) Jasper Sr., Darrin (Darneda) Ellis, Yukeba Collins and the late Orson Sr. and Orin Jasper and Lamar Ellis Jr. Loving sister of Bennie (the late Betty), Jerome Sr. and Byron (Allison) Jasper Sr., Walterine Jasper McCloud and the late Terrell Montegut, Yvette McDaniel, Sharon Dennis, Reo Hartwell, Marguerite Palmer, Claiborne Jasper, Welton Fowler, Jesse and Charles Crolle. Yvonne also survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her grandson Lamar Ellis III and nephew Corey Bailey.
Relatives and friends of the family as well as alumni of Southern University and staff and student body of Benjamin Franklin Elementary Math and Science School are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Israelite Baptist Church 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. New Orleans, LA at 10 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Minister Ronald Williams officiating. Internment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
