Winston Thomas Sr. departed this life on Friday, October 5, 2018 with his wife by his side at Belle Vie Living Center. He was 77 years of age and a lifelong resident of Phoenix, LA. He was born on January 1, 1941 to the late July and Edna Handy Thomas. He was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Phoenix, LA where he served as a faithful deacon until his health declined. He graduated from Phoenix High School in 1960. He was employed as a construction worker for Landry Construction, Bo Brothers and Plaquemines Parish Government until he retired
Loving husband of Regina Thomas. Devoted father of Winston Jr. (Crissy) and Furnell (Lyndell) Thomas. Grandfather of Micole, Dominique, Jecoyiah, Briante’, Jakera Thomas and Darren Hebert. Stepfather of James (Denise), Delton (Shana) Collins and Maria (Ron) Harvey. Step-grandfather of Robert Felix, Jontrell Felix, Ron Battle, Nia and Maiya Harvey, Shani and Shane Collins. Brother of the late Oliver, Pleasant, Eddie, July, Washington, and Landry Thomas, Gloria Dean Hodges, Orameaner Johnson, Vera Randall, Margaret Tinson and Early Mae Williams. Brother in law of Augustine and Lola Thomas; Anthony (Ann) Smith, Albert (Deborah), Christopher (Keioa), Brian, Joseph (Terri), Eric (Lakena), David, Ann, Catherine, Pauline and Sherlita Isidore; Joycelyn (Terry) Palmer, Sharon (Harold) Roche’ and Monique (Calvin) Ray. Godfather of Laura Ann Williams, Nakia Bentley, Brutus Hodges and Nia Harvey. Deceased also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastor, officers and member of St. John Baptist Church and all neighboring churches of Plaquemines, St. Bernard and Orleans Parishes, employees of Belle Vie Living Center, Turn Services and Plaquemines Parish Government Heavy Equipment Department are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, October 12, 2018 at St. John Baptist Church 136 St. Joseph Lane Phoenix, LA at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Pastor Rommel E. Griffin Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Baptist Church Cemetery.
