Valerie Val Mayfield

Valerie "Val" Mayfield transitioned peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 20, 2018 surrounded by her loving daughters. She was 60 years old and a native of Oakville, La and a resident of Harvey, La.
Daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Burtina Mayfield. Devoted and loving mother of Terriyaki (Rev. Michael Sr.) Powell, Nhashonia Harris, Dr. Nieka Harris, LaVanti Mayfield and Tifanie Mayfield. Grandmother of Nastassja Harris, T'Keyah Brooks, Ja'Rian Howard, Sa'Niyah and Stan Harvey Jr. Sister of Lawrence Mayfield, Ida Taplett, Marion Black, Thais Mayfield, Dora Ann Wallace, Elaine Mayfield and the late Jeanette Williams, Adabelle, Charles, Delton, Paulette, Lydia, Glenn and Perry Mayfield. The deceased is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastor, officers, and members of Bethlehem Baptist Church and all neighboring churches, also employees of Metropolitan Developmental Center, Morale Welfare & Recreation, Plaquemines Parish School Board, General Meyers Pharmacy, Walmart, Champion National Security, Plaquemines Parish Government, Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and Orleans Parish Sheriffs Department are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church 111 Bethlehem Lane Dalcour, LA. at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Dr. Michael W. Jiles Sr. officiating. Interment Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, LA.
