Reverend Melvin Cross Sr. Obituary

Reverend Melvin Quentin Cross, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Friday November 2, 2018 at the age of 82. Reverend Cross was a native and lifelong resident of Pointe-ala-Hache LA. He was the Pastor Emeritus of both Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church of Phoenix La. and Bethlehem African Judea Missionary Baptist Church of Point-Ala-Hache La.

Rev. Cross leaves to cherish his memories his children: Allison Jasper (Byron), Melvin Jr. (Albertine), Pastor Brannon, Sr. (Janice) and Zelda Cross; sister: Delores Pinkney, Ten Grandchildren, Ten Great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law: Irvin Picquet (Peggy), Anna Etienne, Bonnie Cross Antione Duplessis and Herbert Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife: Octavia Picquet Cross, parents: Joseph and Victoria Cross, father and mother-in-law Louis and Margaret Picquet, siblings, Joseph, Wilmer, Hicks, Yvonne and Irvin Cross, Ezoria and Ethel Encalade and Irma Williams, brother and sister’s in-law August Picquet, Augustine Marshall, Velma Duplessis, Rev. Alberta Jackson, and Melisha Bienemy.

Relatives and friends of the family, pastor, officers and members of Bethlehem African Judea Missionary and Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Churches and all neighboring churches of Plaquemines, St. Bernard and Orleans parishes, employees of Plaquemines Parish Government, United Bulk Terminal and Phoenix High School Class of 1956 are invited to attend Rev. Cross’ Home-Going Celebration on Saturday November 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church Ministry of Life located at 7047 Hwy 39 Bertrandville LA, 70040 under the auspices of the Christian Ministers Missionary Baptist Association, Pastor Rommel E. Griffin, Sr. President. Rev. John D. Riley Jr. host Pastor. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Entombment will follow in Bethlehem African Judea Baptist Church Cemetery 19622 Hwy 15 Pointe-ala-Hache, Louisiana.
