Pastor August Ferdinand Picquet, Jr. pastor of the Saint Joseph Missionary Baptist Church of Phoenix La, departed this earthly life at a moment’s notice on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Ochsner Westbank Hospital, He was 54 years old and was a native and lifelong resident of Phoenix La.
Pastor Picquet was born on May 7, 1963 to the late August Ferdinand Picquet Sr. and Leona Picquet. Devoted husband of 30 years to First Lady Regina Williams Picquet. Loving father of Yareal (LaVonne) and Adonis (Fiancé Kayla Holmes) Picquet. Cherished Paw-paw of Kieshay Davis. Beloved brother of Monica Sellers, Jarel (Keyante), Von Eric (Lynette), Corey (Tiffany) and Charles Piquet, and Timothy (Darlene) Williams. . He was the nephew of Irving Picquet (Peggy), Anna Mae Etienne (the late Seagle), Brenda Henry (Leo), James, Leo (Gloria), Sidney (Audrey), Cynthia, and Pam Bentley, and Diane Bienemy (Rudolph), Rudolph Williams, Sr. (Diane), and Winston Thomas, Sr. (Regina), the late Augustine Banks-Marshall, Rev. Alberta Jackson, Octavia Cross (Rev. Melvin Cross, Sr.), Velma Duplessis (Antoine), Melisha Bienemy, Julia Picquet, and the late Linda Bentley. Nephew-in-law of Rudolph (Diane) Williams, Sr., and Winston (Regina) Thomas, Sr. He was the brother-in-law of Wanda Narcisse, Laura, Evelyn, Mario, and Marshall Williams, Joseph (Denise), Rudolph (Diane), Anthony, Sidney (Yolanda), and Terry Lee (June) Bienemy, the late Glenda Isaac and Barbara Williams. Godfather of Nakera DeMolle, Kristin Williams, Diondra Glasper, and Darius Brown. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins devoted friends and the congregation of the St. Joseph Missionary B.C.
Pastor Picquet was a member of the 1981 graduating class of Phoenix High School. He received an Associates Degree from Nunez Community College. He was a recipient of a certification in Fire Fighting from Jefferson Parish Fire Fighting School in 1995. He later attended Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary and later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Christian Bible College in 2012 and a Master’s Degree in Theology in 2016. He also served as the 1st vice president of the Christian Ministers Missionary Baptist Association of Plaquemines Parish.
Relatives and friends of the family, pastor, officers and members of St. Joseph B.C. and all neighboring churches of Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes, Alumni of Phoenix High School, employees of Turn Services, U-Haul Michoud, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Department, and OMI are invited to attend the services.
Pastor Picquet will Lie in State at the St. Joseph Missionary B.C. located at 156 St. Joseph Lane, Phoenix, LA. on Friday March 9, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. followed by a “Reflections” service beginning at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will then be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church located at 136 St. John Lane, Phoenix, LA. under the auspices of the Christian Ministers Missionary Baptist Association, Pastor Rommel E. Griffin Sr. President. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph B.C. Cemetery of Phoenix, LA.
