Newel “Pops” Ewing Gayle age 88 of Avondale, LA entered the gates of heaven on Monday, April 24, 2017 with his devoted companion Ms. Brenda J. Simmons by his bedside.

Born to the late Amybel Gayle Brown and Eustace Ewing on December 17, 1928 in Honduras. He was a resident of Avondale for 45 years.

Survivors include 6 children Donald, Oliver, Elbert, Cecil and Gilbert Taylor and Nowel Gale. Siblings Myra Alvanzo, Ludy James, Phylis Rivas, Norma Brown, Clifton Ewing and Rupert Brown. Close friend Andrea Williams and Amanda Simmons. Also survived by 30 grand and 60 great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Little Zion Baptist Church 433 Avondale Garden Road at 10 A.M. Visitation will begin at 8 A.M. Pastor Damien Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
