Mary Ellen Stevenson

Mary Ellen “Lil Mary” Stevenson departed this life on Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home in Empire La. She was 74 years old and was a native of New Orleans La. and a longtime resident of Empire La.

Daughter of the late Rev. Alonzo Sr. and Roberta Washington Stevenson. Devoted companion of Harold Collins. Mother of Charles Wesley Burns III and the late Angela Marie Stevenson. Sister of the late George Stevenson, Lucille Bourgeois, Alonzo Stevenson Jr. and Glen A. Stevenson. Deceased also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, caretaker Evangelist Lynette Reed and devoted friends Sharon Hopkin and Penny Sue Avist.

“Lil Mary” as she was affectionately called never met a stranger and was know as a great cook to her family and community.  She was a member of the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church and served proudly  as an usher there for many years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church located at 27796 Hwy 23 Port Sulphur, Louisiana 70083 at 10 A.M. Visitation will begin at 8 A.M. Pastor Mandrel Pansy officiating. Internment will follow in Holt Cemetery in New Orleans, LA.

There will be a visitation on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Robinson Family Funeral Home from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
