EUGENE ANTHONY AVIST

Eugene Anthony Avist “Mitty” transitioned from labor to reward peacefully at his home in Port Sulphur on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, he was 79 years old. Son of the late Joseph Avist Sr. and Viola Duncan Avist. Beloved husband of the late Audrey Williams Avist. Devoted father of Valerie Williams Griffin (Darwin Sr.) and Vanessa Avist Andry (Ramsey).

Grandfather of Darwin Jr. and Keshia Griffin, Lakein (Austin) McGee and Lexus Andry. Great grandfather of Adele Claire McGee. Brother of Ewald (Bernadette) Avist and the late Joseph (Meryl) and Alton Avist, Abraham (Shirley) and Irvin Green, Aldine Rodgers, Liola Soloman, and Amelia Rapp. Son in law of the late Samuel and Emma Williams. Godfather of Cecil Thurmond and Shalanda Alexis. Devoted friend of Mr. Leander LaFrance. Brother in law of Linda (Nathan) Taylor, Samuel (Iris), Larry (Faynell) and Gloria (Alfred) Williams, Irene (Kenneth) Martin and the late Sherner LaFrance, Burnell, Russell (Montreal) and Louis (Mary) Williams, and Mildred (Charles) Costict. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday June 3, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 28683 LA-23, Port Sulphur, LA 70083 at 11AM. Visitation will begin at 9AM. Father Gerard Stapleton celebrant. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery in Buras, LA.  The family will also receive guest for a visitation at Robinson Family Funeral Home, 9611 Hwy 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM.
