Carroll "Michael" Conley III peacefully departed this life on March 1st, 2024, spreading his wings after a valiant battle with cancer. Surrounded by his cherished friends and family, Carroll drew his last breath, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength.
Born on May 12th, 1967, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Carroll was the beloved son of his late father, Carroll Conley Jr., and mother, Rose Mary Foster. He also held a special bond with pops, Theodore Thomas, Jr. Growing up alongside his sister Shirley Conley and brother Corey Conley (Shawana), he was blessed with extended siblings: Robin C. Thomas, Tyrone Scott, Theodore Thomas Scott (Schfreda), and Terrence Scott.
Fond memories of his childhood in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, and the camaraderie of his neighborhood friends in the 'cut off' always brought a smile to Carroll's face. A talented drummer during his teenage years at Walker High School, Carroll's passion for music was just the beginning of his journey.
Following graduation, Carroll dedicated himself to serving his country as an active sniper in the Marine Corps, proudly defending the values he held dear. After leaving the military, he discovered a new calling as a truck driver and found his soulmate in his wife, Blanche Romain Conley, with whom he shared over 33 years of unwavering love and companionship. The love they shared was pure and she was always by his side, until the very end.
A devoted father to Chatni Shaw (Romail), Kristal Conley, Makayla Conley (Dwayne), Cortney Johnson (Rashad), and Brittany Lopez (Desmond), Micahel was the epitome of a loving "girl dad." His daughters will forever cherish memories of his infectious laughter, his joy in the simplest of moments, and his unwavering presence.
Chatni will always remember surprising him for his 50th birthday, the laughs, and jokes, and calling him an old man and him saying "I got your old man". Kristal remembers that it was always the simple things that made him the happiest. Whether he was just boiling seafood, grilling, taking a ride in the slingshot, or being around everybody. Makayla always had to be included in his plans even if it was just to go to the gas station.
Carroll's legacy extends to his 13 adoring grandchildren: Jaidyn, Elijah, Caleb, Zariah, Kamora, Amaya, Davante, Nahvi, Gavriella, Eliza Grace and Noah who will carry his spirit with them always. He is preceded in death by grandchildren Zed and Baby Shaw.
Known throughout the city for his warm heart and problem-solving abilities, Michael was a beacon of positivity and support for all who knew him. His selflessness and boundless love touched the lives of countless individuals, and his absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved him. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures.
In the words of his beloved daughters Daddy, the memories will stick with us forever and a day. Although we were not ready for you to go at all, thank you for the years you gave us. We really couldn't have asked for a better father. So, this is not goodbye, but see you later. Connected for eternity. Forever in our hearts. We love you forever!
Carroll "Michael" Conley III, your light shines on in the hearts of all who knew you. Until we meet again, you will be dearly missed and endlessly loved.
