Advocate: Lionel Tolbert, the Soul Man of Bourbon Street passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Mr. Tolbert was born at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La to the late Rosie Allen and J.C. Tolbert. Step-Son of Wallace Smith. From a very early age Mr. Tolbert showed a great musical interest. He graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1978, then went on the receive a Bachelors Degree from Audubon College. He spent 40 years working at various night clubs in the French Quarters, mainly on Bourbon Street. Any given night Mr. Tolbert could've been found at Fat Catz Music Club, The Famous Door, The Opera House, Funky 544, Sing Sing and many other clubs and venues. He leaves behind his wife Mrs. Adrian Tolbert. One Step daughter, Garvel Scott. Two step-sons Gordon and Garvin Scott. One sibling, Ruby Marcell. Also a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
