Antione Duplessis Obituary

On March 12, 2024, Antoine "Chine" Duplessis Sr, transitioned from his daughter's Algiers home surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, sibling, niece, and nephew to a home of rest, after a long "Path of Life" of 93 Years. He was born on June 4, 1930, delivered by a Midwife (the late Louella Burke) to the union of the late Ernest Joseph Duplessis Sr. and the late Virginia Williams Duplessis. He was a lifelong resident of Phoenix (St. Sophia) in Plaquemines Parish.
During March 15, 2017, Brother Antoine Duplessis Sr. accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized at Zion Travelers Baptist Church. He was drenched in the liquid grave by Pastor Tyronne Edwards and Pastor Simone M. Duplessis-Franklin.

Prior to Brother Antoine Duplessis Sr accepting his Lord and Savior his life work of Faith and Dedication would begin with his commitment to his community.

He attended Rosenwald School which is currently known as Phoenix High School. Brother Antoine was a Laborer/Construction Worker by Trade for various companies for many, many years, and a member of Local Union 99. Brother Antoine was instrumental in supporting his Family's Trucking Business. He was a dedicated Dodgers fan who tried to never miss the world series.

He was married to the late Velma Picquet Duplessis for 63 Years. He was the Father of Patricia Ann Thomas (late Dymond III), Elnora Duplessis, Deborah Joyce Isidore (late Harry), Antoine Duplessis Jr (Stephanie), Reginald G. Duplessis, Regina Demolle, Jennifer Hall (Larry), Pastor Simone M. Duplessis-Franklin (Lional), and Aruvina Duplessis. Siblings: Eugene Duplessis Sr (late Louise) and Lois Solomon (Philmore) of "Republic of Tobago" survive him. He was preceded in death by the late Earnest Duplessis Jr, Claudia Grant, and his Twin Sister Viola Bivens. He is survived by 24 Grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren, and 27 Great-Great Grandchildren, preceded in death the late LaRon G. Etienne, Rondell Gregory Isidore, and Kenneth Williams Jr. He was the Godfather of Claudia Lewis, Bernard Encalade, and the late Warren Lafrance. He was the Godchild of the late Joseph Augustus.
When Brother Antoine's heart would become heavy his "go-to" scripture was "Lord teach us to Pray" (Luke 11: 2-4, KJV).
